MARSHITE

Rubtsovskiy Mine, Altaiskiy Krai, West Siberia, Russia, Asia

Status
Available

2 x 1.6 x 1.2 cm (Miniature)

Marshite is a very rare Copper Iodide (CuI) with a distinctive (but not disagreeable) disinfectant-like smell (close up). The crystals start out colourless or yellow, and turn pinkish to brownish/red with sunlight. This specimen is so fresh and properly stored that it remains colourless. Marshite crystals from this locale are amongst the best seen in the world and this specimen is no exception with pearly well formed crystals to 1cm(!) forming an aesthetic star-shaped cluster. Excellent condition and sits well.
